Originally from Burgundy, it may have older Middle Eastern roots and has found a special habitat in the DOC Friuli Colli Orientali area. Already present in the Catalogue of the Friulian Exhibition of 1863 under the name of Borgogna bianco. In 1939 it will be judged as a "grape variety of great merit".
